Why is the procedure done?
The procedure is done to surgically treat the complications of duodenal ulcer by closure of the duodenal perforation in the duodenum.

How is the procedure done?
- A needle is inserted through the navel and carbon dioxide is inflated into the abdomen to permit better view and room for operation.
- Four very small incisions are made through which the laparoscope with a camera and other laparoscopic tools of operation are inserted.
- The perforation is located after which the abdomen is cleaned and the perforation is closed with an omental patch.
- All the instruments are then removed and the incisions are sutured with stitches or surgical tape.
